<p><strong>During the blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims all over the world <span style="text-decoration: underline;">abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during the daylight hours</span>. As a time to purify the soul, refocus attention on God, and practice self-sacrifice, Ramadan is much more than just not eating and drinking.</strong></p>
<p><strong><br />
</strong></p>
<p><strong>Muslims are called upon to use this month to re-evaluate their lives in light of Islamic guidance. We are to make peace with those who have wronged us, strengthen ties with family and friends, do away with bad habits &#8212; essentially to clean up our lives, our thoughts, and our feelings. The Arabic word for &#8220;fasting&#8221; (<em>sawm</em>) literally means &#8220;to refrain&#8221; &#8211; and it means not only refraining from food and drink, but from evil actions, thoughts, and words.</strong></p>

<p><strong>During Ramadan, every part of the body must be restrained. The tongue must be restrained from backbiting and gossip. The eyes must restrain themselves from looking at unlawful things. </strong><strong> </strong></p>

<p><strong>Ramadan is a time to practice self-restraint; a time to cleanse the body and soul from impurities and re-focus one&#8217;s self on the worship of God.</strong></p>

<h2><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Addressing your fitness during Ramadan</strong></span></h2>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Not consuming any food or drink throughout the day is harsh.  It play a large effect on metabolism and hormone secretion in the body, and <span style="text-decoration: underline;">not in a good way</span>.  However, for religious observances, sacrifice is sometimes necessary.</strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Nutrition</h3>
<p><strong>In order to power up our body for 13 hours of sunlight, it is important to eat foods that will provide energy over a long period of time.  Slow digesting carbohydrates </strong>(100% whole wheat bread, lentils, and sweet potatoes are awesome options), <strong>protein containing foods </strong>(lean cuts of meat, nuts, eggs), <strong>and a variety of vegetables </strong>(lots and lots of color) <strong>are exactly what should eat.</strong></p>

<p><strong>An ex-Marine haunted by a tragic past, Tommy Riordan returns to his hometown of Pittsburgh and enlists his father, a recovered alcoholic and his former coach, to train him for an MMA tournament awarding the biggest purse in the history of the sport. As Tommy blazes a violent path towards the title prize, his brother, Brendan, a former MMA fighter unable to make ends meet as a public school teacher, returns to the amateur ring to provide for his family. Even though years have passed, recriminations and past betrayals keep Brendan bitterly estranged from both Tommy and his father.</strong></p>
<p><strong>But when Brendan’s unlikely rise as an underdog sets him on a collision course with Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront the forces that tore them apart, all the while waging the most intense, winner-takes-all battle of their lives.</strong></p>
